Job Description
Carmanah is seeking an organized, energetic, motivated individual to help with marketing and tradeshow planning and support. The position will be one to three days a week and will be flexible based on the successful applicant's schedule and the requirements of the position.
Reporting to the Marketing Communications Manager, the responsibilities of the Marketing & Tradeshow Coordinator will be as follows:
Tradeshow Planning
The Marketing & Tradeshow Coordinator position will be a point of contact for all Carmanah tradeshow activities including, but not necessarily limited to, the following duties:
- Research tradeshow details as requested including conference/tradeshow focus, target market, competitor presence, cost and speaking opportunity evaluation
- Project manage tradeshow activities including booking of tradeshow booths, shipping of product and graphics, signing and negotiation of contracts for vendors and services, submitting show guide entries, payment of tradeshow related expenses
- Act as the central touch point for unexpected issues including shipping problems and at-show issues to facilitate an immediate and effective solution
- Liaise with the engineering department to arrange for new product and to troubleshoot demo product issues
- Liaise with the shipping department regarding product shipment, special equipment needs and shipping deadlines
- Organize special events & meetings as requested including hotel bookings, conference room bookings, AV equipment rental and catering requirements
- Manage the inventory of promotional items used for sales and tradeshow efforts
Marketing Support
When not involved in tradeshow duties, the Marketing & Tradeshow Coordinator may be called upon to help in supporting direct marketing activities including:
- Researching and gathering names and contact details for the purposes of targeted marketing and awareness campaigns
- Supporting Sales Administrators with marketing efforts including collating and organizing direct mailings and assisting with e-marketing activities
Skills and Requirements
- 1 to 2 years experience in a professional office setting
- Experience in event planning and coordination
- Proven organizational skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, while not required, would be considered an asset
